The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Suvendu Adhikari, met with the Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi. The meeting discussed in detail various issues related to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
During the meeting, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed about several important decisions to strengthen rural development and infrastructure in West Bengal. The Ministry of Rural Development has approved a labor budget of 15.3 million man-days for West Bengal under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA) for June 2026. This approval was granted in response to the state government's request and in light of the progress made in the preparations necessary for the scheme's implementation.
This will enable a sufficient number of jobs to be launched in the state and ensure timely access to rural families seeking employment. This will ensure continued access to wage-based employment for eligible rural workers.
The meeting was also informed that the " Development India - Guarantee for Employment and Livelihoods Mission ( Rural ) " [VB-G RAM G] Act , 2025 will come into effect from July 1, 2026. This new framework is an important step towards strengthening rural livelihood security and promoting the creation of durable and productive rural assets. The Ministry appreciated the preparations and efforts made by the Government of West Bengal for the smooth implementation of the new framework.
प्रधानमंत्री ग्राम सड़क योजना (PMGSY) के अंतर्गत पश्चिम बंगाल में अब तक कुल 7,769 सड़कें (40,910 किलोमीटर) और 61 पुल स्वीकृत किए जा चुके हैं। इनमें से 7,395 सड़कें (38,970 किलोमीटर) तथा 54 पुलों का निर्माण पूरा हो चुका है, जबकि 374 सड़कें (1,579 किलोमीटर) और 6 पुलों पर कार्य प्रगति पर है।
वर्ष 2026-27 में PMGSY-IV के प्रथम चरण के अंतर्गत केंद्र सरकार ने पश्चिम बंगाल के लिए 432 सड़क परियोजनाओं को मंजूरी दी है। इन परियोजनाओं की कुल लंबाई 759.933 किलोमीटर है तथा इन पर 663.09 करोड़ रुपये व्यय किए जाएंगे। इन सड़कों से पहली बार 535 असंबद्ध बस्तियों को सड़क संपर्क उपलब्ध होगा।
इसके अतिरिक्त PMGSY-IV के दूसरे चरण में 6 सड़कों से जुड़े 6 पुलों के निर्माण के लिए 49.24 करोड़ रुपये स्वीकृत किए गए हैं जिससे 14 और बस्तियों को पहली बार संपर्क सुविधा प्राप्त होगी। वहीं PMGSY-III के तहत 39 पुलों के निर्माण के लिए 300.83 करोड़ रुपये की मंजूरी दी गई है। कुल मिलाकर, पश्चिम बंगाल के लिए स्वीकृत नई सड़क एवं पुल परियोजनाओं की लागत 1,013.16 करोड़ रुपये है, जिससे ग्रामीण संपर्क और आधारभूत संरचना को महत्वपूर्ण मजबूती मिलेगी।
बैठक में प्रधानमंत्री फसल बीमा योजना को पश्चिम बंगाल में पुनः लागू करने, डिजिटल पब्लिक इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर एवं फार्मर आईडी कार्यक्रम को शुरू करने तथा प्रधानमंत्री किसान सम्मान निधि योजना के लाभ किसानों तक प्रभावी ढंग से पहुंचाने पर भी सहमति बनी।
श्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कहा कि कृषि एवं ग्रामीण विकास के क्षेत्र में पश्चिम बंगाल में अपार संभावनाएं हैं। केंद्र सरकार राज्य के साथ मिलकर कृषि रोडमैप तैयार करेगी तथा किसानों की आय बढ़ाने, सिंचाई सुविधाओं के विस्तार, बागवानी, जूट, आलू एवं अन्य फसलों के विकास के लिए विशेष प्रयास करेगी।
मुख्यमंत्री श्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने केंद्र सरकार द्वारा प्रदान किए गए सहयोग के लिए आभार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि राज्य सरकार कृषि एवं ग्रामीण विकास योजनाओं के प्रभावी क्रियान्वयन के लिए पूरी प्रतिबद्धता के साथ कार्य करेगी। उन्होंने केंद्रीय मंत्री को पश्चिम बंगाल का दौरा कर किसानों और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों की स्थिति का प्रत्यक्ष अवलोकन करने का आमंत्रण भी दिया।
The meeting also discussed issues related to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana , watershed development , land records modernization , the " Lakhpati Didi" program, and rural poverty alleviation. Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured the West Bengal Chief Minister of all possible support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
