Vice Admiral Manish Chadha is an alumnus of the 78th Course conducted at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1991. Vice Admiral Manish Chadha is a specialist in communications and electronic warfare. He is also an alumnus of the 61st Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and completed the Higher Command Course at the National Defence University, Washington, USA.
During his distinguished military career spanning over 35 years, Vice Admiral Manish Chadha has held numerous command, operational, training and staff assignments at both sea and ashore. His key sea assignments include commanding the Indian Coast Guard interceptor boat CGS-05 and Indian Naval ships Veer, Kirpan and Mysore.
Vice Admiral Manish Chadha has also served as Naval Attache at the Indian Embassy in Moscow. At Naval Headquarters, he spearheaded several important projects involving Very Low Frequency (VLF) and satellite communications. He also served as Director of the International Fleet Review 2016.
After promotion to flag rank, Shri Chadha has held important appointments as Flag Officer Commanding, Gujarat Naval Area; Assistant Chief of Personnel (Administration & Civil); Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area; and Assistant Chief of Personnel (Human Resource Development).
After promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral, he was appointed Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy, where he has shouldered the important responsibility of grooming and training future naval leadership.
In recognition of his distinguished services, Vice Admiral Manish Chadha was awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) in the year 2025 and the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in the year 2017.
