India, Nov. 18 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

To ensure Minimum Support Prices to farmers and protect them from market risks, under the farmer-friendly policies of the Central Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, today approved Price Support Scheme (PSS) and Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) proposals received from Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan for the Kharif 2025-26 season. The produce value of these approved proposals is more than Rs.9,700 crore.

This decision is a significant step towards providing income security to farmers, in line with Prime Minister Shri Modi 's commitment to farmer welfare . Under the state-wise approvals issued by Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a crucial video conference meeting with ministers and senior officials from both states, peanut procurement has been approved for the benefit of farmers in Andhra Pradesh. The approved eligible quantity is 37,273 metric tons ( MT ), while the estimated production is 1,49,090 MT . The MSP value of the approved proposal is Rs. 270.71 crore. Similarly, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has provided relief to Andhra Pradesh farmers by approving the purchase of 97,887 MT of onion through MIS, valued at Rs.24.47 crore. The meeting was informed that the state has implemented the L1 Aadhaar-biometric system at Rythu Seva Kendras . This approval will provide farmers with greater confidence in selling their produce.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved record-breaking procurement of four crops - mung , urad , groundnut, and soybean - for Rajasthan farmers . This approval for Rajasthan is one of the largest procurement initiatives in the country, with approved eligible quantities of 305,750 MT of mung , 168,000 MT of urad (100%) , 554,750 MT of groundnut, and 265,750 MT of soybean , with a total MSP value of approximately Rs. 9,436 crore. The meeting was informed that the state has completed preparations to implement POS- based Aadhaar authentication. This decision will benefit millions of farmers in the state.

Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh said that ensuring fair prices for farmers is our top priority. He urged states to ensure foolproof procurement systems to ensure no irregularities and ensure farmers receive the full benefits of the produce purchased. Following Shri Shivraj Singh's instructions, the Agriculture Ministry has directed states to ensure Aadhaar-enabled devices are available at procurement centers, farmer registration and payment through DBT , and to provide an organized market for farmers by giving a greater role to FPOs/FPCs . Farmers' interests must be ensured at all costs.
