Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah today inaugurated the Sabar Dairy Plant in Rohtak, Haryana. Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister of State for Cooperation Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar, and Union Minister Shri Rao Inderjit Singh.
In his address on this occasion, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has fulfilled the decades-old demand of the country's farmers for the formation of a separate Ministry of Cooperation and the entire country is grateful to him for this. He said that in the last four years, the Ministry of Cooperation has worked to deepen the foundation of cooperation by taking all the state governments of the country along. He expressed confidence that by the year 2029, there will not be a single Panchayat in the country where there will be no cooperative society.
Shri Amit Shah said that today, for the welfare of milk producers through Sabar Dairy, the work on the country's largest curd, buttermilk and yogurt manufacturing plant has been completed at a cost of about Rs 350 crore. He said that the milk product needs of the entire Delhi-National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) will be met from Haryana itself. Sabar Dairy, starting from Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, has created a huge opportunity for milk producers of 9 states. Shri Shah said that Tribhuvan Bhai, Bhura Bhai and Galba Bhai laid the foundation of dairies in Gujarat and today, through cooperative dairy, 35 lakh sisters of Gujarat are doing business worth Rs 85 thousand crore annually.
The Union Minister of Cooperation stated that the Sabar plant will produce 150 metric tons of curd, 10 metric tons of yogurt, 300,000 liters of buttermilk, and 10,000 kilograms of sweets daily, opening the way for farmers' prosperity. He added that today, the Sabar Dairy serves farmers in Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. Under Amul's leadership, significant scientific work has been done in Gujarat on modern reproductive technologies-embryo transfer and sex determination. These two technologies should also be made available to Haryana's livestock farmers. He added that beekeeping and organic farming also need to be promoted in the state. Gujarat has conducted several promising experiments on biogas, and these experiments need to be implemented in Haryana.
Shri Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India's dairy sector has grown by 70 percent in the last 11 years. He said that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India's dairy sector has become the fastest-growing dairy sector in the world. He said that the number of lactating animals in India has increased from 86 million in 2014-15 to 112 million. Similarly, milk production has increased from 146 million tons to 239 million tons. He said that the production of indigenous cow milk has increased from 29 million tons to 50 million tons. Shri Shah said that today approximately 80 million farmers in India are engaged in the dairy sector. He said that our country's farmers have contributed to increasing the per capita availability of milk in India from 124 grams to 471 grams. He said that many changes have taken place in India's dairy sector in the last 11 years, and this has led to the prosperity of our farmers.
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister said that under White Revolution 2.0, more than 75 thousand dairy societies will be established across the country in the coming days and the government will also strengthen 46 thousand dairy cooperative societies. Shri Shah said that our current milk processing capacity is 660 lakh liters per day and our target is to increase it to 1 thousand lakh liters by the year 2028-29. He said that on achieving this target, all the profits go to our farmer mothers and sisters who produce milk. Nearly 33 thousand cooperatives have been registered in just one year.
Shri Amit Shah said that the Modi government recently established three national cooperative societies - for the production of animal feed, for the management of cow dung, and for the use of animal remains in the circular economy. He added that the Modi government launched the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, the National Artificial Insemination Program, established the Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, and launched the National Animal Disease Control Program. Shri Shah said that we also want to become self-reliant in terms of dairy plant construction, and for this, the Modi government is moving towards self-reliance in the dairy sector by accelerating the pace of dairy plant construction and related research and development threefold.
