India, Oct. 14 -- The Government of India has issued a release:
Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during his visit to Punjab today, interacted with farmers at a Chaupal in village Noorpur Bet , Ludhiana , witnessed a demonstration of agricultural equipment and visited the "Samanyu Honey" beekeeping centre in village Doraha.
On this occasion, the Agriculture Minister saw the live demo of SMS fitted combine harvester for harvesting paddy and Happy Smart Seeder machine for sowing wheat.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Chauhan said that Noorpur is a village where stubble has not been burned since 2017. Farmers here have decided to manage stubble properly. He added that after operating the combine harvester, a large portion of the stubble is scattered throughout the field , not collected. Similarly, direct seeding with a smart seeder is an excellent technique. On one hand, it covers the stubble, while on the other, its system compacts the soil and grain. Mr. Chauhan added that using machines significantly saves farmers' labor , money, and time.
Mr. Chauhan said that sowing with proper stubble management will increase the nitrogen content in the soil after two years, requiring less urea use. Additionally, production will increase by 2 quintals per acre. The Union Agriculture Minister also appealed to his farmer brothers and sisters to avoid stubble burning and to manage it properly.
Following this, Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh visited the "Samanyu Honey" beekeeping center in Doraha village. Interacting with farmers, the Minister learned about new models and innovations in the beekeeping business and discussed related schemes of the Ministry of Agriculture.
