Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, inaugurated a two-day agricultural fair, health camp, and exhibition, along with a tribute meeting, on the 43rd death anniversary of the late Ravindra Kishore Shahi, former state president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and former minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, at Acharya Narendra Dev Inter College, Pathardewa, in Deoria district today, by cutting the ribbon and lighting a lamp. He paid tribute to the late Shahi by offering flowers to his portrait.
In his address here, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh said that the late Ravindra Kishore Shahi was one of the prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, who strengthened the organization's foundation in every village. The late Shahi made politics a medium of service and dedicated his life to social service and national welfare. He was a hardworking organizer, a sensitive social worker, and a true public leader, whose ideals continue to inspire workers. Shri Shivraj Singh said that the late Shahi initiated numerous schemes for the welfare of farmers, laborers, youth, and ordinary citizens. He also played a key role in expanding the organization of the Jana Sangh, and later the Bharatiya Janata Party, to the grassroots level.
Union Minister Shri Chouhan, while referring to the work being done under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi towards building a self-reliant India, said that the BJP government is continuously striving to empower farmers and connect the agricultural sector with modern technology. He added that the late Shahi ji's dream was "self-reliant farmers and a strong India," and the central government is continuously working towards realizing it.
Shri Shivraj Singh said that those who work against the interests of farmers, commit irregularities, and sell substandard seeds should beware; strict action will be taken against them. He said that we will introduce strict and comprehensive laws. If any company tries to defraud farmers, it will not be spared.
Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh said that we have announced a new Minimum Support Price (MSP) to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce . He appealed to everyone to adopt natural farming to protect the earth and soil for future generations. This will require avoiding the use of excessive fertilizers and pesticides.
Shri Shivraj Singh said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has resolved that no poor person will live in a mud house. To this end, the Union Rural Development Ministry is working vigorously and systematically, and homes for the poor are being built. Furthermore, no sister will remain poor. The aim is to make the sisters associated with the Livelihood Mission into millionaire sisters, for which the Ministry is also working rapidly as a mission.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Kamlesh Paswan, Agriculture Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of State Vijay Laxmi Gautam, Deoria MP Shri Shashank Mani Tripathi, Kushinagar MP Shri Vijay Kumar Dubey, Sadar MLA Shri Shalabh Mani, BJP District President Shri Bhupendra Singh along with other public representatives, local officials, representatives of various departments, farmer brothers and sisters, students and a large number of citizens were present.
