The second meeting of the Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was held today in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda. Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav and Minister of State, Smt. Anupriya Patel participated in the meeting as Vice-Chairpersons of the Committee. Senior MP and Vice-Chairperson of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee, Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab, Members of Parliament, Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Shri Anup Pradhan Valmiki, as ex-officio members, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava and Secretary, Department of Health Research, Dr. Rajiv Bahl, along with other members of the Committee were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the status of the use of the official language, Hindi, in the Ministry and its various attached and subordinate offices was reviewed. The Ministry's efforts to promote the use of the official language, Hindi, and future action plans were discussed. Committee members were invited to offer suggestions on further increasing the use of the official language and providing information related to health facilities and services to the public in simple Hindi.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, welcomed the suggestions made by the members of the Hindi Advisory Committee, stating that the work of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is directly linked to public life. Therefore, communicating with the public in their own language is an important responsibility of the Ministry. He stated that establishing effective communication with the public through Hindi and other Indian languages can improve access to health services and service delivery. Shri Nadda expressed satisfaction with the Ministry's meaningful efforts since the last meeting to promote the use of the official language, Hindi.
Mr. Nadda said that the country is now moving towards greater use of its Indian languages, breaking free from the long colonial influence of the Western world, and that language is an important medium for strengthening Indianness. He said, "Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has presented his thoughts and views in Hindi on many important occasions at international forums and has emphasized the need to strengthen Indianness."
राजभाषा से संबंधित पदों के संबंध में श्री नड्डा ने निर्देश दिया कि मंत्रालय के विभिन्न विभागों और संस्थानों में राजभाषा से संबंधित पदों की समीक्षा कर उन्हें पुनः सृजित करने और भरने की दिशा में समयबद्ध कार्रवाई की जाए। उन्होंने संबंधित पदों की सूची तैयार कर शीघ्र उनके समक्ष प्रस्तुत करने को कहा, ताकि आवश्यकतानुसार वित्त मंत्रालय के साथ भी इस विषय पर चर्चा की जा सके।
श्री नड्डा ने हिंदी में कार्य करने के लिए अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों के प्रशिक्षण पर जोर देते हुए एक सप्ताह का संक्षिप्त प्रशिक्षण पाठ्यक्रम अथवा कार्यशाला आयोजित करने का सुझाव दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि इसके लिए एक निर्धारित दिवस से कार्यक्रम शुरू करने और पूरे सप्ताह की गतिविधियों की स्पष्ट रूपरेखा तैयार करने का प्रयास किया जाना चाहिए। उन्होंने मंत्रालय की पत्रिकाओं में कम-से-कम आधे लेख हिंदी में प्रकाशित करने तथा बुलेटिनों में भी हिंदी के अधिकाधिक प्रयोग को प्रोत्साहित करने का सुझाव दिया।
भोपाल मेडिकल कॉलेज में हिंदी माध्यम से चिकित्सा शिक्षा के प्रयोग का उल्लेख करते हुए श्री नड्डा ने कहा कि इस प्रयोग का अध्ययन कर यह समझने की आवश्यकता है कि इसे अन्य संस्थानों में किस प्रकार अपनाया जा सकता है। उन्होंने सुझाव दिया कि हिंदी सलाहकार समिति के सदस्य इस प्रयोग का अध्ययन करें और इसके आधार पर एक स्पष्ट कार्ययोजना तैयार करें। उन्होंने कहा कि चूँकि स्वास्थ्य राज्य का विषय है, इसलिए इस कार्ययोजना के आधार पर विभिन्न राज्यों के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रियों के साथ भी चर्चा की जा सकती है, ताकि अन्य राज्यों में चिकित्सा शिक्षा में हिंदी एवं क्षेत्रीय भाषाओं को अपनाने की संभावनाओं पर विचार किया जा सके।
राजभाषा पखवाड़े के संबंध में श्री नड्डा ने एक समन्वित दैनिक कार्यक्रम तैयार करने का सुझाव दिया, ताकि अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों के नियमित कार्य में बाधा आए बिना सीमित अवधि में प्रभावी रूप से हिंदी के प्रयोग को प्रोत्साहित किया जा सके।
हिंदी की शब्दावली को अधिक समृद्ध और व्यावहारिक बनाने पर जोर देते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि "हर शब्द के लिए जटिल हिंदी पर्याय खोजने के बजाय ऐसी प्रचलित और सहज शब्दावली को स्वीकार किया जाना चाहिए, जो पहले से हिंदी में आत्मसात हो चुकी है। इससे भाषा अधिक सहज और जन-सामान्य के लिए समझने योग्य बनेगी।"
श्री नड्डा ने भारतीयता को आगे बढ़ाने में भाषा की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका को रेखांकित करते हुए कहा कि भारतीय भाषाओं का अधिकाधिक प्रयोग भारतीयता की भावना को मजबूत करने में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दे सकता है। उन्होंने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि हिंदी सलाहकार समिति के सदस्य और मंत्रालय के अधिकारी हिंदी तथा भारतीय भाषाओं के प्रयोग को बढ़ाने के लिए प्रभावी कदम उठाएँगे।
इस अवसर पर मंत्रालय में अधिकाधिक राजकीय कार्य हिंदी में करने वाले कार्मिकों को प्रशंसा-पत्र प्रदान कर उनका उत्साहवर्धन किया गया। इसके अलावा, अखिल भारतीय वाक् एवं श्रवण संस्थान, मैसूर द्वारा प्रकाशित पुस्तक 'आईश शब्द संकेत' का लोकार्पण भी किया गया।
राजभाषा हिंदी को जन-सामान्य तक स्वास्थ्य संबंधी जानकारी पहुँचाने का प्रभावी माध्यम बनाने पर भी विशेष जोर दिया जा रहा है। मंत्रालय द्वारा जन-स्वास्थ्य कार्यक्रमों के अंतर्गत स्वास्थ्य संबंधी जागरूकता के लिए तैयार कराई जा रही सामग्री को सरल हिंदी में प्रस्तुत किया जा रहा है, ताकि स्वास्थ्य संबंधी संदेशों को अधिक सुगम और प्रभावी ढंग से लोगों तक पहुँचाया जा सके।
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, stated that the Ministry is continuously making effective efforts to promote and institutionalize the official language, Hindi, and its increased use. He added that the Ministry is encouraging officers and employees to work more in Hindi and is also encouraging new experiments in this direction.
He informed that a National Official Language Conference was held at NIB, Noida on December 29-30, 2025, in which about 200 participants from across the country participated. Hindi Pakhwada was organized from September 14-30, 2025, and 40 winners were honored. On February 16, 2026, the Ministry was inspected by the Parliamentary Official Language Committee.
Mr. Jadhav said that awareness materials, audio messages, and jingles are being prepared in Hindi and regional languages to make health-related information accessible to the general public in simple language. He informed that on the occasion of World Hindi Day on January 9, 2026, the second issue of 'Swasthya Sarjan' was released and a poetry conference was organized, and personnel who work extensively in Hindi were honored. He said that continuous efforts should be made to make the use of Hindi more widespread in the health sector and to make health-related information simple and accessible to the general public.
During the meeting, the committee members made several important suggestions regarding increasing the use of the official language, Hindi, and making health services available to the general public in simple Hindi. The Ministry and its attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies, and institutions will take necessary action on the suggestions received from the members.
Shri Elangbam Robert Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Member Secretary, Hindi Advisory Committee; Smt. Pushpavati, Director, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore and other senior officials of the Ministry and heads of various subordinate offices were also present on the occasion.
Background: The Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was constituted on April 28, 2025, with the objective of promoting the use of the official language, Hindi. The Committee is chaired by the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, while the Ministers of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, and Smt. Anupriya Patel, are its vice-chairpersons. The Committee also includes six Members of Parliament and nine non-official members working in the field of Hindi. Senior officials of the Ministry and heads of some subordinate offices are ex-officio members of the Committee. The last meeting of the Committee was held on August 22, 2025, in New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
