India, Dec. 9 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

Under the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam 4.0 initiative, "Tamil Karkalam," meaning "Let's Learn Tamil," Tamil language classes are being conducted in 50 schools across the district. Fifty teachers from Tamil Nadu taught students the basics of the Tamil language in various schools, including secondary and basic schools, as well as private and convent schools in the district.

Tamil teachers taught Tamil to students in two different shifts. This included teaching them spoken Tamil as well as alphabets. Students were taught the Tamil alphabet, vowels, and consonants at school. They were also taught how to pronounce everyday sentences like " What is your name?" , " Which school do you attend?" , " My name is.? " in Tamil.

A team of teachers conducted a special class at Bengali Tola Inter College. The two-hour class taught students how to write and speak Tamil. The students explained that they receive a large number of tourists from Tamil Nadu around their homes, and learning Tamil would enable them to communicate with them and understand their views better. The students expressed their appreciation for this initiative by the Ministry of Education.

Organized at the initiative of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this Sangamam has become a prime example of the confluence of the cultural heritage of North and South India. Participants say that Prime Minister Modi's vision of "One India, Best India" is vividly reflected in this event.

This two-week program, which began on December 2nd, is strengthening cultural and intellectual ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. More than 1,400 delegates from Tamil Nadu are participating in the event, representing seven different categories: students, teachers, writers, media representatives, agriculture and allied sectors, professionals and craftspeople, women, and spiritual scholars.
