India, Aug. 7 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

HFW/Steps Taken to Strengthen Medical Education Infrastructure/07August2026/3

The Government has significantly expanded medical education infrastructure in the country, resulting in a substantial increase in the number of medical colleges as well as MBBS and PG seats. The number of medical colleges has increased by 118.6%, from 387 before 2014 to 846 at present. Further, the number of MBBS seats has increased by 172.4%, from 51,348 before 2014 to 1,39,864 at present. Similarly, the number of PG seats has increased by 176.9%, from 31,185 before 2014 to 86,360 at present.

The measures taken by the Government to augment medical education facilities and improve the quality of medical education in the country include:
