India, Aug. 18 -- The Government of India issued the following news release:

The Ministry of Culture, through the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation (RRRLF), Kolkata-an autonomous organization-provides financial assistance for the development of public libraries across the country under its approved Matching and Non-Matching Schemes. These schemes support a range of initiatives, including enrichment of library resources, procurement of furniture, construction of library buildings, establishment of children's and knowledge corners, creation of facilities for Divyangjan readers, and modernization of library services through the provision of computers, printers, and related infrastructure. Implementation is undertaken in active coordination with the respective State/UT Library Authorities.

The quantum of financial assistance released is determined by the number of eligible applications received from the respective State/UT Library Authority along with their recommendations.

Details of proposals received and sanctioned during the period 2014-15 to 2024-25 under various RRRLF schemes are placed at Annexure-I.

This information was given by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
