India, July 21 -- The Government of India issued the following news release:

At present, a total of 306 academies have been accredited for the training of Khelo India Athletes (KIAs) under Khelo India Scheme. The details of sports academies is at Annexure-I.

Against sanctioned strength of 1,096 Past Champion Athletes (PCAs) as coaches, 951 PCAs have been deployed and 145 posts are vacant under Khelo India scheme and the detail maintained is at Annexure - II.

In Khelo India Centre (KIC), the coach-to-athlete ratio is 1:30. In Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE), the coach is deployed as per custom support required for each state and the number of coaches ranges from 4 to 12 per KISCE.

Skill development and capacity-building programmes are conducted for Past Champion Athletes (hired as coaches) through Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala from time to time. The detail of such course is as follows:
