The Department of Fisheries, Government of India (DoF, GoI), regularly reviews the implementation of projects approved under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in all States/Union Territories(UTs) including Maharashtra through physical meetings, virtual meetings, field visits and digital monitoring through a dedicated centralized digital platform for scheme implementation.
(b) and (c): Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), during 2020-21 to 2026-27, the DoF, GoI has approved the proposals for fisheries development submitted by the Government of Maharashtra amounting to Rs. 1,601.44 crore, with central share of Rs. 593.33 crore. Out of this, central funds amounting to Rs. 419.02 crore has been released and the Government of Maharashtra has utilized Rs. 408.77 crore of this released funds.
The approvals include various fisheries activities towards enhancing fish production, productivity, strengthening infrastructure facilities, development of cold chain and marketing facilities, sustainability of resources and activities towards fishermen safety and welfare. Under PMMSY, beneficiary selection and projects implementation are done by the respective State Governments/UTs. The district-wise details of important fisheries infrastructure projects implemented under PMMSY as reported by Government of Maharashtra are Annexed.
(d): The Government of Maharashtra has informed total of 3714 beneficiary oriented projects are active in the State under PMMSY out of which 2856 projects are 100% completed. From these, direct employment for 15,763 persons and indirect employment opportunities for 19,528 persons are generated in the State. It is also informed that upon completion of all approved projects, the ongoing projects are expected to generate additional employment opportunities and further strengthen the socio-economic status of the fisheries sector in Maharashtra.
