Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, has taken another effective step towards the success of Swachh Bharat Mission and its glorious journey. Here, the Raipur Municipal Corporation has launched the Digital Faecal Sludge Management System (FSM) dashboard prototype with the aim of strengthening the city's sanitation and public health services. This innovative initiative is based on the UPYOG (Urban Platform for Delivery of Online Governance) platform of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs ( MoHUA), National Institute of Urban Affairs ( NIUA) and National Urban Digital Mission ( NUDM) .
A first in Central India and a leading model in the country: Significantly, the Raipur Municipal Corporation has now become the first urban local body ( ULB) in Central India and a leading model in the country to adopt this modern digital infrastructure under the Swachh Bharat Mission - Urban ( SBM-U) 2.0 . This system was developed with technical support from UNICEF and Entit Consultancy Services .
Accessible and transparent services for citizens: This digital system has simplified and simplified de-sludging (septic tank cleaning) services , eliminating the need to visit the municipal office. One-click booking and a single-page form automatically locate the address by entering a mobile number or property ID. Online payment has made the entire process faster and corruption-free , while the automated approval system has minimized post-application waiting times.
Accurate Tracking and Smart Planning: This system is effective for both citizens and management , ensuring accurate planning through " real-time verification " and " one trip per application . " Driver photo uploads provide real-time verification of work, and the dashboard enables optimal resource utilization and better vehicle monitoring. The system's data-driven decision-making capabilities will help in future smart planning and citizen-friendly action plans.
Safety and Accountability of Safai Mitras: A key objective of this digital innovation is to ensure the safety of Safai Mitras. Under the mission, manual sewage cleaning is being transformed into mechanized cleaning by moving from " manhole to machinehole . " Digital monitoring will also ensure that the entire process is completed within safe standards , reducing human risk. Furthermore , increased transparency will further strengthen the trust between citizens and the Municipal Corporation.
Raipur's achievement under SBM-U 2.0 demonstrates that a convergence of technical expertise, combined with the collective resolve of government , administration, and citizens, can make urban living more accessible.
