India, July 21 -- The Government of India issued the following news release:

The total number of approved projects state-wise for setting up of Science Centre/City/ Innovation Hub/Digital Planetarium taken up by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) under the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS) of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India is listed at Annexure- 'A'.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme 'Support to Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs)' extends financial support to 29 Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs) in States/Union Territories (UTs) including Tribal Research Institute Maharashtra on the basis of the Annual Action Plan submitted by the States/UTs subject to the approval of the Apex Committee chaired by the Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The details of the projects sanctioned under the scheme may be seen at the official website of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The details of total number of approved projects state-wise under the Museum Grant Scheme (MGS) are at Annexure 'B'.

The progress of completion of projects along with the total funds sanctioned, disbursed and utilized, project and scheme-wise, for Maharashtra, is at Annexure-C.

A letter dated 02nd December, 2024 from the Hon'ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Nashik, Shri Rajabhau Parag Prakash Waje was received regarding the establishment of a World Class Science Centre in Nashik.

In its response, Hon'ble M.P. has been requested to arrange for the submission a Detailed Project Report of the proposed Science Centre, either through the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Maharashtra or any other Department capable of operating this centre, in the prescribed format as stipulated in the SPoCS guidelines, to the Ministry of Culture for further consideration.

This information was given by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
