Under the PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals, the performance period commenced in FY 2022-23. Out of the total financial outlay of Rs.15,000 crore for this scheme, an incentive amount of Rs.6,659 crore has been disbursed till March 2026.
Under PLI Scheme for Bulk Drugs, out of the total outlay of Rs.6,940 crore, an incentive amount of Rs.87.70 crore has been disbursed till March 2026. Implementation of projects under the PLI Scheme for Bulk Drugs faced constraints on some accounts such as time consumed for land acquisition, environmental clearance, high utility costs, long gestation period for fermentation based bulk drugs etc. These factors collectively led to delayed commissioning of projects. Consequently, the disbursement of funds was affected as incentives are released based on sales of the eligible products manufactured from these projects.
The details of amount disbursed since the inception of the schemes are as follows:
There is no plan to reform the Medical Devices PLI scheme, including shifting from an exclusively PLI framework to a hybrid model that incorporates both Component-Linked Incentives (CLI) and PLI to boost and attract more interested manufacturing companies.
This information was given by Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Smt. Anupriya Patel, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
