India, June 5 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

The nationwide " Khet Bachao Abhiyaan" (Save the Farmland Campaign) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare is carrying out extensive public awareness activities to promote balanced fertilizer use , soil fertility conservation, and sustainable agricultural practices. As of June 4, 2026 , more than 9.42 lakh farmers have been engaged through various programs under the Abhiyaan .

Under the campaign, 17,834 awareness programs have been organized across the country so far , with approximately 6.983 lakh farmers participating. Additionally, 3,698 training programs have provided information on balanced fertilizer use , soil health management, and scientific farming techniques to 1,57,438 participants .

To provide practical training to farmers, 8,850 demonstrations were organised , demonstrating the use of organic and alternative nutrient sources and integrated nutrient management techniques.

To ensure the participation of public representatives at the Panchayat level, 5,237 Panchs , Sarpanchs, and Zila Parishad members were also included in the campaign. Meanwhile , dialogue programs were organized with 9,609 input dealers to spread the message of judicious fertilizer use to the grassroots level .

The campaign has also been strengthened through Farmer Producer Organizations ( FPOs), Self-Help Groups ( SHGs) , and Farmer Interest Groups ( FIGs) . So far, 8,383 farmer members have participated in these programs and learned about scientific nutrient management.

As part of extensive outreach activities , banners , posters, and hoardings were displayed at 60,477 locations across the country . Additionally, the campaign message was disseminated to farmers and the public through 1,027 radio and community radio talks , and 240 TV and digital media programs .

The effective use of social media platforms has significantly expanded the campaign's reach. The campaign's message has reached approximately 35.05 million people so far through various digital platforms.

Till June 4, 2026, 600 events were organised under the campaign , in which 32,021 participants took part.



The campaign aims to promote balanced fertilizer use , soil test based nutrient management, increase soil fertility by adopting sustainable agricultural practices and ensure conservation of healthy and productive agricultural land for future generations.
