(a): The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India is implementing the National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) Phase-II for aquatic animal diseases in the country under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow, is the coordinating agency for the implementation of NSPAAD Phase-II. As part of NSPAAD Phase-II, ICAR-NBFGR has developed the Report Fish Disease mobile application to facilitate real-time reporting of aquatic animal health problems by farmers across the country. As the coordinating agency, ICAR-NBFGR monitors the functioning of the application to track reported disease cases. On receipt of any disease report, ICAR-NBFGR immediately contacts the concerned farmer and informs the designated nodal and co-nodal officers of the concerned Fisheries Department of the State/Union Territory (UT) as well as the NSPAAD collaborating centres for necessary follow-up action.
(b): As per the ICAR-NBFGR report, the Report Fish Disease mobile application has been downloaded 22,190 times and 356 disease cases have been reported by farmers across the country. As per the information provided by ICAR-NBFGR, the state-wise details of diseases reported, verified and resolved through this mobile application are given in Annex I.
(c): The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, is regularly reviewing the implementation of NSPAAD Phase-II at various levels. Additionally, ICAR Fisheries Research Institutes, universities, fisheries colleges, and other NSPAAD Phase-II collaborating centers are conducting training and awareness programs on the "Report Fish Disease" mobile application to ensure fish farmers derive maximum benefit from it. ICAR-NBFGR has also evaluated the response and technical support provided under NSPAAD Phase-II. It has been reported that when a disease case is received through the mobile application, farmers are contacted within 24 hours, and management advice is issued by the relevant State Fisheries Department official or NSPAAD collaborating center within 24 to 48 hours, based on the case history.
