Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar-2025
The winners of the National Panchayat Awards 2025 (NPA-2025) have been announced by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), with a total of 42 Panchayats from across the country being selected. The award distribution ceremony is scheduled to take place on 3rd June 2026 in New Delhi.
The awards are conferred under two distinct categories. The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP) recognises outstanding Gram Panchayats for their performance across 9 Localisation of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) themes, namely: Poverty-Free and Enhanced Livelihoods, Healthy Panchayat, Child-Friendly Panchayat, Water-Sufficient Panchayat, Clean and Green Panchayat, Self-Sufficient Infrastructure, Socially Just and Socially Secured Panchayat, Panchayat with Good Governance and Women-Friendly Panchayat. Under each theme, awards are conferred for Rank 1, Rank 2 and Rank 3. Under NPA-2025, 34 Gram Panchayats spread across 17 States and Union Territories have been selected under DDUPSVP that also includes joint winners. These thematic awards have been linked to the Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 scores. The Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (NDSPSVP) is conferred to the best-performing Panchayats at the District, Block, and Gram Panchayat levels on an overall basis. Under NPA-2025, 8 Panchayats have been selected as winners, comprising 3 under the Best District Panchayat category, 2 under Best Block Panchayat and 3 under Best Gram Panchayat category.
Winning Panchayats receive financial incentives ranging from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 5 crore per awardee, depending on tier and category. The awards are given under the Incentivization of Panchayats (IoP) scheme, a central component of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). In April 2025, on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day-2025, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had conferred the National Panchayat Awards-2025 to Panchayats/Institutions under the special categories viz. (i) Climate Action Special Panchayat Award (CASPA), (ii) Atma Nirbhar Panchayat Special Award (ANPSA) and (iii) Panchayat Kshamta Nirman Sarvottam Sansthan Puraskar (PKNSSP).
National Panchayat Awards 2025
To recognize and incentivize best-performing Panchayats, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj annually confers the National Panchayat Awards, promoting inclusive, participatory, and sustainable development in rural India. Institutionalized under the Incentivization of Panchayats component of the revamped Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), the awards encourage Panchayats to improve local governance, service delivery, and progress towards Sustainable Development Goals through community-led initiatives. In 2023, the awards framework was revamped and aligned with the nine themes of Localization of SDGs (LSDGs), making assessment more holistic, transparent and data-driven, further reinforcing Panchayats' role in translating national priorities into impactful grassroots action towards Viksit Bharat@2047.
