The Cabinet in its meeting held on 09.04.2025 had approved the Modernization of Command Area Development and Water Management (M-CADWM) as a sub-scheme of PMKSY for the period 2025-2026 to undertake pilot projects across the States/UTs. A total of 34 nos. clusters in 23 States/UTs have been approved for inclusion under the M-CADWM Scheme. State/UT-wise details along-with agroclimatic zone is at Annexure-I.

Approximately 69,715 hectares of command area is expected to be covered under the approved clusters. State/UT-wise details is at Annexure-I.

The total Central Assistance allocated to the states is Rs.882.67 crores approx. out of which Rs. 44.13 crores approx. has been released to the States/UTs so far. State/UT wise details may be seen at Annexure-II.

At present, the Ministry does not maintain specific quantified data or formal estimates on the exact manner by which farmers' income would increase under the scheme. However, the scheme has been designed with primary focus on providing pressurized water at the farm level to facilitate adoption of micro-irrigation for higher agricultural productivity and hence higher farmers' income over time. The scheme is envisaged to directly benefit about 70,000 farmers and indirectly benefit around 3.5 lakh farmers across the identified command areas.

In view of (d) above, question does not arise.

The information was provided by THE MINISTER OF JAL SHAKTI SHRI C R PATIL in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
