SHILLONG, India, Feb. 26 -- Meghalaya High Court issued the following judgment/order on Jan. 27:

1. Heard Ms. A.D.Syiem, learned counsel for the petitioner.

2. Ms. N.G.Shylla, learned Sr. GA is present and accepts notice on behalf of the respondents No. 1 & 2.

3. On hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner and on examination of the materials, it appears that the petitioner's bank account with the HDFC Bank, Shillong, has been put on debit freeze on 09-01-2026.

4. Ms. A.D.Syiem, learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner has no knowledge as to the reasons, or under what circumstances his account had been frozen, and only that he had received an email from the Bank indicating the same.

5. From examining the materials, it appears that no steps have been taken by the petitioner with the Bank itself, or with the appropriate authorities to obtain the reasons for the freezing of his bank account. In these circumstances, the matter is closed at this stage by directing the petitioner to first take appropriate steps before the concerned authorities and the Bank to ascertain the reasons.

6. Matter stands disposed of.
