MADHYA PRADESH HIGH COURT ISSUES JUDGEMENT ON SARMILA SAYAM V/S THE STATE OF MADHYA PRADESH AND OTHERS

JABALPUR, India, Jan. 19 -- Madhya Pradesh High Court issued the following judgment/order on Dec. 18:

1. Learned counsel for the petitioner very candidly admits that parts of the land which are required for construction of dam is owned by the fatherin-law of the petitioner.

2. Since there is a private interest involved, no public interest litigation is maintainable at the behest of the petitioner.

3. Petition is accordingly dismissed.
