JABALPUR, India, Nov. 16 -- Madhya Pradesh High Court issued the following judgment/order on Oct. 15:
1. Corpus has appeared before us. It is contended by the Corpus that he was taken in custody by Madhya Pradesh Police and kept in a hotel and detained without therebeing a formal arrest. It is further stated that he was assaulted while in police custody and thereafter released from custody. It is stated by the Corpus that he was assaulted in Police Control Room, Seoni. Further, it is contended by learned counsel for the petitioner that there is a threat to the Corpus and prays that appropriate direction be issued to State to provide police protection to the Corpus so that he can travel back to his home at Jalna (Maharashtra). home at Jalna (Maharashtra).
2. In view of above, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents/State to have an MLC conducted of the Corpus today itself in a Government Hospital at Jabalpur. The CCTV footage of Police Control Room, Seoni from 12.10.2025 to 14.10.2025 be preserved. Further, after the MLC is conducted, the Corpus be escorted to Jalna (Maharashtra) under police protection.
3. The petition is accordingly disposed of in the above terms. It is clarified that this Court has neither considered nor commented upon the merits of the allegations of the petitioner or the defence of the State thereto. It would be open to the petitioner to initiate appropriate proceeding in respect of the allegations made, if so advised.
