The Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Mines met today on September 24 , 2025. The meeting was chaired by the Honorable Union Minister of Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy. Present at the meeting were Honorable Members of Parliament, Shri Bhartruhari Mahtab (MP , Lok Sabha), Shri Bhojraj Nag (MP , Lok Sabha), Shri Kalicharan Singh (MP , Lok Sabha ), Shri Sujeet Kumar (MP , Rajya Sabha), Shri Devendra Pratap Singh (MP , Rajya Sabha), along with other members of the Committee , Shri Piyush Goyal, Secretary (Mines), senior officials of the Ministry of Mines, representatives of the Department of Official Language, and Honorable members of the Committee nominated by the Ministry.

In his address, the Honorable Minister of Mines stated that Hindi is not merely a medium of communication , but a bridge to our cultural identity and national unity. He emphasized the need for full compliance with the Official Language Policy and the increased use of Hindi in the Ministry and its subordinate offices. The Honorable Minister of Mines placed particular emphasis on building an India in which Hindi develops as a common language and the general public benefits from government policies and schemes.

During the meeting, the committee's MPs and members made several suggestions to further encourage the use of the official language, Hindi, in the Ministry and its subordinate offices. Ensure maximum use of Hindi in all official correspondence , note sheets , emails, and digital platforms. Regular Hindi training and workshops should be organized for employees, and a vocabulary bank should be created to develop technical terminology. Competitions and incentive schemes should be run to promote Hindi writing and innovation, and an expert panel should be formed to improve the quality of translation.

Additionally, during the meeting, under the Official Language Shield Scheme, the Honorable Minister of Mines distributed shields and certificates to the offices of the Ministry that performed the best in Hindi during the year. The first prize went to the Indian Bureau of Mines, the second to the Geological Survey of India, and the third to the National Institute of Rock Engineering. This scheme was an effective step in encouraging the progressive use of Hindi in offices.

At the end of the meeting, it was decided that a concrete action plan would be prepared to make the use of Hindi in all the works of the Ministry more effective , easy and people-oriented.
