RANCHI, India, June 16 -- Jharkhand High Court issued the following order on May 14:

1. Heard learned counsels for petitioner and for State.

2. The petitioner is apprehending his arrest in connection with Petarbar P.S.Case No.150 of 2025, for offence registered under section 82(2), 85 and 3(5) of BNS, 2023 and Section 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act, pending in court of learned Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Bermo at Tenughat.

3. Learned counsel for petitioner submits that the informant happened to be the cousin sister of this petitioner and she has alleged that the petitioner is husband of the informant. He submits that the informant's marriage has been solemnized with another man. He next submits that mother of this petitioner has earlier filed the complaint case against the family members of the informant as they were not returning back the amount of Rs.15 lacs which was provided by the petitioner for pursuing the studies of the informant and her siblings. On these grounds, anticipatory bail of the petitioner may kindly be granted.

4. Learned State counsel opposes prayer and submits that the allegations are there and the petitioner happened to be husband of the informant.

5. Considering that prior to the present case and mother of this petitioner has lodged complaint case against the informant and the family members. The marriage has been denied and informant is said to be cousin sister of the petitioner and in the attending facts and circumstances of the present case, I am inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

6. Accordingly, the petitioner, above named, is hereby directed to surrender before learned court within two weeks from today, and in event of his surrender/arrest, the petitioner, above named, shall be released on bail, on furnishing bail bond of Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand), with two sureties of like amount each, to the satisfaction of learned Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Bermo at Tenughat, in connection with Petarbar P.S.Case No.150 of 2025, subject to the conditions as laid down under section 482(2) of Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
