RANCHI, India, Nov. 25 -- Jharkhand High Court issued the following order on Oct. 29:

1. The present criminal appeal has been filed against the judgment of conviction and order of sentence dated 29.08.2002 and 30.08.2002 respectively passed by learned Special Judge, CBI cum First Addl. Sessions Judge, Dhanbad in R.C. Case No.15(A)/ 91(D), whereby the appellant has been convicted for the offence under Sections 7 and 13(1)(d), r/w 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and has been sentenced to undergo R.I. for 1 and half years with a fine of Rs.150/- for the offence under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further sentenced to R.I. for 02 years with fine for the offence under Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 with default clause. Both the sentences were directed to run concurrently.

2. Vide order dated 24.09.2025, status report has been called for from the court concerned.

3. From perusal of report submitted by the court concerned, it appears that the appellant has already been released from the jail custody on 23.12.2023 after serving the sentence as imposed.

4. Neither the appellant nor his legal heir has shown interest in pursuing the present appeal.

5. Accordingly, the present criminal appeal is, hereby, dismissed as infructuous.
