RANCHI, India, Nov. 22 -- Jharkhand High Court issued the following order on Oct. 22:
1. Heard the parties.
2. The petitioner has been made accused in connection with Raidih P.S. Case No. 47 of 2024, for the offences registered under Sections 18, 22, 27(A), 28, 29 of the N.D.P.S. Act, pending in the Court of learned Sessions Judge, Gumla.
3. On 22.10.2024, at about 11:30 p.m., Raidih Police, on the basis of confidential information intercepted Shivnath Bus bearing Registration No. CG-14MT-7799 and apprehended the petitioner along with co-accused persons. On search, 506 grams of opium were recovered from their joint possession.
4. It was submitted that the quantum of seized opium comes within the purview of intermediary quantity. It was further submitted that the petitioner has got no criminal antecedent. It was finally submitted that several similarly situated co-accused persons have been granted bail by this Court earlier.
5. In view of the submissions made above, I am inclined to release the petitioner, on bail. Accordingly, the petitioner, named above, is directed to be released on bail on furnishing bail bond of Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty Thousand) with two sureties of the like amount each, to the satisfaction of learned Sessions Judge, Gumla, in connection with Raidih P.S. Case No. 47 of 2024.
