RANCHI, India, Dec. 19 -- Jharkhand High Court issued the following order on Nov. 19:

It has been submitted by Mr. Pradeep Kumar, learned A.C. to A.A.G.-IV that the rules for appointment in Clerical posts in the Water Resources Department has already been framed which has been extended till 31.03.2027 and as per Clause 3(d)(iv), preference will be given to the displaced persons at the time of appointment based on the area of land which has been acquired for the purposes of setting up of Swarnrekha Multipurpose Project.

Learned counsel submits that the appellants are displaced persons and their cases for appointment as and when the same is undertaken, shall be considered and given preference based on Clause 3(d)(iv). This submission has been advanced in the presence of Mr. Samavesh Bhanj Deo, learned counsel for the appellants.

The basic prayer of the appellants is for a direction upon the respondents to consider the case of the appellants for their appointment in Class III and IV posts taking into consideration that they are the land losers/displaced persons and there are vacancies in Swarnrekha Multipurpose Project.

In view of the rules noted above and whose operation has been extended till 31.03.2027 incorporating a provision for giving preferential treatment to the displaced persons/land losers under the Swarnrekha Multipurpose Project, we do not find any reason to continue with the present Letters Patent Appeal and consequently, we dispose of the same with a direction to the concerned respondents to expedite the process of appointment.

This appeal stands disposed of.

Pending I.A.s, if any, stands closed.
