India, Oct. 5 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

Various youth-centric education and skill development schemes, including the PM-Setu scheme, worth over Rs.62,000 crore, were launched and dedicated to the nation at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched all these schemes on Saturday, October 4th . Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, graced the occasion.

Under the leadership of Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Ministry is fully committed to empowering youth by empowering them with self-reliance, recognizing that skills, labor, and technical education are the foundation of the country's progress. Toward this end, ITI institutions across the country are being modernized, with the PM-Setu scheme playing a crucial role. The PM-Setu scheme is a centrally sponsored scheme launched at a cost of Rs.60,000 crore. Under this scheme, 1,000 government ITI institutions across the country will be modernized, organized into 200 hub and 800 spoke models. In the first phase of the PM-Setu scheme, the ITI in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, is proposed to be upgraded as a hub, and ITI Dholpur, ITI Karauli, ITI Kaman, and ITI Bayana will be upgraded as spoke institutions.

Under the PM-Setu scheme, each hub will be connected to an average of four spoke institutions, equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, modern machinery, digital learning systems, and advanced trades. Each hub-and-spoke cluster will be operated and managed by its respective anchor industry partner to ensure industry-led training and institutional improvement. Hubs will house innovation centers, training of trainers centers, production units, and placement services, while spoke institutions will broaden the reach of training.

The PM-SETU scheme will transform India's ITI ecosystem into a "government-owned, industry-managed" model. It is noteworthy that the Rajasthan government submitted proposals for two proposed industry clusters under the pilot phase of the PM-SETU scheme (ITI Upgradation). Cluster 1 includes the Bharatpur region, comprising the districts of Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Kaman (Deeg), and Bayana.

The cluster will focus on key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and hospitality. It aims to promote skill development and employment in emerging sectors through the engagement of the local industrial ecosystem and organizations such as CII, FICCI, and other local industry associations.

Speaking on the occasion at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, "The DGT operates over 14,500 ITIs. Just as Chaudhary Charan Singh used to say that the path to a nation's development lies through fields, villages, and barns, similarly, under the Prime Minister's leadership, ITIs have been placed at a key point in the path of development for New India."

Minister Chaudhary further stated, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the youth of the country a message: focus on your strengths, skill development, and education, and earn a name for yourself in the country and the world. The Prime Minister's vision is for India to become a developed nation by 2047. His vision is not just a dream, but an inspiration to make that dream a reality: we must resolve, plan, and move forward."
