India, Sept. 30 -- The Government of India has issued a release:

Indian Navy's First Training Squadron (1TS) comprisingINS Tir, INS Sujata, INS ShardulandICGS SarathidepartedPort Mombasa, Kenyaon28 Sep 2025after a successful three-day port call. The visit concluded on a high note with aPASSEX (Passage Exercise)withKenya Navy (KNS Shupavu).

The extant visit reaffirmed strong bonds of maritime friendship and cooperation between India and Kenya under the maritime visions ofBAHARIandMAHASAGAR, while providing valuable exposure to trainee officers of both the Navies. The Indian Navy and Kenya Navy were engaged in a wide range ofprofessional interactions, cross training visitsandjoint training exercisesat harbour. Key highlights included acombined performance by Naval Bands of both the Navies, joint yoga session, training on damage control & firefighting drillsandcommunity outreachto an old age home.

Courtesy calls were exchanged between Commanding Officers of 1TS ships and Commander, Kenya Navy. The delegation also visitedthe Kenyan Navy Hospital's Radiology Department featuring state-of-the-art CTscan facility gifted by the Govt of India. A deck reception onboard INS Shardul, co-hosted by Senior Officer 1TS and the Acting High Commissioner, facilitated interaction with dignitaries from the Government of Kenya, Kenya Defence Forces, and Indian diaspora. The ships were open for visit by the local populace and the Indian diaspora.

The successful completion of the long-range training deployment of 1TS underscoresIndian Navy's commitment to safeguarding collective maritime interests, capacity building and enduring partnership with IOR nations.
