GUWAHATI, India, Dec. 8 -- Gauhati High Court issued the following order on Nov. 7:

Heard Ms. S. B. Choudhury, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. T. C. Chutia, learned Addl. Senior Government Advocate, Assam appearing for the State respondents and Ms. M. D. Borah, learned Standing Counsel, Transport Department, Assam.

By way of this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India the petitioner is seeking a direction for appointment on compassionate ground.

Issue notice returnable on 18.12.2025.

Since Ms. M. D. Borah, learned Standing Counsel, Transport Department, Assam has entered appearance and accepted notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1, 2 and 3 and Mr. T. C. Chutia, learned Addl. Senior Government Advocate, Assam has accepted notice on behalf of respondent Nos.4, 5 and 6, service of notice is deemed to be complete in this case. Extra copies of the writ petition, requisite in numbers, be served upon the learned departmental counsel during the course of the day.

Since the matter pertains to claim of compassionate appointment and in view of the objection raised by Mr. T. C. Chutia on the ground to delay, let the return be positively filed on or before the next date of listing so as to enable this Court to make an endeavour to dispose of the writ petition at that stage itself.
