GUWAHATI, India, March 10 -- Gauhati High Court issued the following order on Feb. 9:
1. Heard Mr. A. Sharma, learned counsel for the petitioner and also heard Ms. N. Das, learned Addl. P.P for the State.
2. This application under Section 482 of BNSS, 2023, have been filed by the petitioner, namely, Rangemai Dekaraja, seeking pre-arrest bail in connection with Raha P.S. Case No.05/2026 under Section 103(1)/3(5) of BNS, 2023.
3. The allegation as stated in the FIR is that on 05.01.2026, an unknown person entered into the house of one Ajoy Deka Raja and thereafter, a commotion took place and the said person was tied up and assaulted by some persons causing grievous injuries and the subsequently, the said person was found dead about 50 meters away from the house of the said Ajay Deka Raja.
4. It is submitted that the petitioner is only a neighbor of the said Ajay Deka Raja, and is a 67 year old widow who has no connection with the instant case.
5. Call for the case diary.
6. In the interim, it is provided that in the event of arrest, the petitioner shall be released on interim bail of Rs. Rs.50,000/-(Rupees Fifty Thousand) with one suitable surety of like amount to the satisfaction of the arresting authority in connection with the aforesaid case.
7. It is further provided that the petitioner shall appear before the I.O. within a period of 10 (ten) days from today for the purpose of investigation.
8. List the matter on 23.02.2026.
