GUWAHATI, India, Nov. 30 -- Gauhati High Court issued the following order on Oct. 29:

1. Heard Mr. S Ahmed, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. P.S Lahkar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor for the State of Assam.

2. By this application under Section 482 of the BNSS, 2023 the petitioner has sought for pre-arrest bail in connection with Juria P.S Case No 133/2025 registered under Section 303(2)/317(2) of the BNS, 2023 R/W Section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

3. The FIR dated 13.05.2025 reveals that on an information that the accused persons have stolen cows, the police personnel reached the place of occurrence and upon reaching, found that the thieves had already fled the scene leaving behind 4 nos. of cows as the local people screamed and gathered at the scene. It was further stated in the FIR that on local enquiry, the accused persons were identified and all the three petitioners were recognized as the thieves.

It is noticed that the petitioners were released on bail vide order dated 26.08.2025 with the condition that they shall appear before the I/O within a period of 7(seven) days from the date of the order and in compliance of the said directions, it is noticed that the petitioners had appeared before the I/O and got their statements recorded.

5. In view of the same, this Court deems it fit that the order dated 26.08.2025, by which the petitioners were granted interim bail, may be made absolute with the further direction that the petitioners may comply with the already mentioned directions in the said order.

6. Petition is disposed of.
