India, March 6 -- The Government of India has issued a release:
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the post-budget webinar on " Agriculture and Rural Transformation " via video conferencing . Representatives from companies under the Department of Fertilizers and lakhs of farmers from across the country participated in the webinar.
According to the Department of Fertilizers, farmers from nearly all states across the country participated in this webinar. Approximately 1.6 million people joined the program through Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras ( PM-KSKs) and listened to the Prime Minister's address live. Approximately 1.2 million male and 400,000 female farmers participated in the webinar through the Samriddhi Kendras.
Top officials from 23 fertilizer companies across the country also participated in this address. According to the Department of Fertilizers, participants came from all 36 states and union territories, most of whom were farmers . All government companies under the Department of Fertilizers, including NFL and RCF, as well as cooperatives like IFFCO and Kribhco, and private companies participated enthusiastically in the webinar.
In his address, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that the Union Budget has given a new direction to agricultural and rural transformation. He stated that the government's objective is to increase farmers' income , empower the agricultural sector, and strengthen the rural economy. He explained that in recent years, investment in agriculture , modern technology, and improved infrastructure development have increased production and created new opportunities for farmers.
The Prime Minister said that today the world is becoming more health-conscious , leading to a rapidly growing demand for organic and chemical-free foods. This is an opportunity for Indian farmers to strengthen their presence in the global market.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the suggestions received from this webinar will prove helpful in further strengthening agriculture and rural economy.
