The Government has approved World's Largest Decentralized Grain Storage Plan in the Cooperative Sector, to create grain storage at the PACS level through convergence of various Central schemes. This helps reduce wastage, save transport costs, and help farmers get better prices. Godowns have already been built in 11 PACS under the pilot, and over 500 PACS have been selected under the extended pilot. Hiring assurance has been given for 220 PACS, construction has started in 134, and 85 PACS have completed construction.
