These zwitterionic metal chelators have desirable properties that maximize solubility in aqueous environments, minimize non-specific interactions, and retain the ability to target thus resulting in an improved performance in a variety of medical, agricultural, and chemical processes. In in vivo andmedical applications, zwitterionic metal chelators improve the signal-to-background ratio and therapeutic window as compared to other metal chelators while retaining high stability.
