Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of nanotechnology and antimicrobial treatments, specifically to a method for synthesizing fungal metabolite-coated gold nanoparticles for combating multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli. The method involves providing a gold salt solution, such as chloroauric acid, and extracting fungal metabolites from cultivated fungal strains. These metabolites serve as both reducing and stabilizing agents when mixed with the gold salt solution, forming a reaction mixture where gold ions are reduced to create gold nanoparticles. These nanoparticles are then stabilized with the fungal metabolites, resulting in biocompatible fungal metabolite-coated gold nanoparticles. The invention further includes characterizing these nanoparticles using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) to confirm their size, shape, surface charge, and stability. The antimicrobial efficacy of the nanoparticles is tested in vitro against multidrug- resistant E. coli, with assessments of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC).
