Abstract: The present invention relates to a wound care composition specifically designed for treating multi-drug-resistant wound infections, utilizing hydrogel-embedded biogenic silver nanoparticles. The composition comprises a hydrogel matrix, which is a three-dimensional, hydrophilic polymer network capable of retaining a substantial amount of water, thereby maintaining a moist environment conducive to wound healing. Embedded within this matrix are biogenic silver nanoparticles synthesized using fungi as natural reducing agents, which convert silver ions into nanoparticles. These nanoparticles, ranging in size from 10 to 100 nanometers, exhibit broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against multi-drug-resistant pathogens. The hydrogel matrix not only acts as a physical barrier to protect the wound from external contaminants but also facilitates a controlled release mechanism, allowing the silver nanoparticles to diffuse to the wound site over an extended period, ensuring sustained antimicrobial activity.
