Abstract: The invention concerns a wind-powered street lighting system which incorporates a Savonius vertical-axis wind rotor, rechargeable battery storage, motion sensors, and insect-friendly LED lighting. Lamp post will use the wind power in the city setting, offering self-sufficient, energy efficient, and environmentally friendly street lighting. The proposed system will not waste energy, unlike the traditional streetlights which are on all the time, and it will only turn on when needed, which decreases the usage of the product and environmental contamination of light. The transparent and modular architecture also exposes the mechanisms of energy conversion in a way that is easily visible, not only as an educational resource, but as a way of infrastructure. This invention focuses on the energy problems in urban areas, helps protect biodiversity and the creation of sustainable cities.
