MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641064331 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on May 21, 2026, for Wideband Planar Antenna Device And Method Thereof.
Inventors include Rishab Kothari; Praveen Kumar; and Goutham Simha G D.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure pertains to a wideband planar antenna device (100) and method (200). The device (100) includes a flexible dielectric substrate (102), a radiating element (104), a feed line (106) and a ground plane (108). The flexible dielectric substrate (102) is formed of Melinex material. The radiating element (104) includes a modified monopole structure including a slot region (104-1) and one or more extended arm portions (104-2) configured to create multiple current paths. The ground plane (108) includes a defected ground structure (108-1) configured to perturb surface current distribution for enhancing impedance bandwidth and radiation efficiency. The interaction between the slot region (104-1), the extended arm portions (104-2), and the defected ground structure (108-1) generates multiple resonant modes enabling wideband Ku-band operation within a frequency range of approximately 12.9 GHz to 18.3 GHz, corresponding to a fractional bandwidth of approximately 34%.
