MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631071332 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Patna on June 08, 2026, for Whole Life Carbon Assessment Of A Building.

Inventors include Kumar, Deepak; and Maurya, Kranti Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides automated assessment of whole-life carbon of a building structure. The system (100) includes a memory (102) storing a Building Information Modelling (BIM) dataset (102-2) and an emission factor database (102-4). A verification unit (106) generates an interference log (106-2) of intersecting geometric elements (102-2B) to establish a clash-free model validation layer upon reaching a null state (106-4). An extraction unit (108), gated by a validation token (106-8), pulls element-wise volumetric quantities (108-2A) into a schema-mapped data file (108-2). A carbon computation unit (110) computes element-wise embodied carbon (110-2) and operational carbon (110-4) values across lifecycle stages A1 to C4. A mapping unit (112) dynamically injects these values back onto corresponding geometric elements (102-2B). Unlike conventional systems, this approach eliminates volume double-counting, and provides high-precision assessment with less than 5% variance.
