Abstract: A wheelchair navigation and monitoring system (102) is disclosed for providing mobility assistance, environmental monitoring, and obstacle awareness for physically challenged and elderly users. The system (102) comprises an embedded controller unit (104), a camera-based monitoring module (106), an obstacle detection module (108), a wireless network communication module (110), a short-range communication and network identification module (112), a browser-accessible control interface module (114), a motor drive control module (116), a wheelchair drive motor assembly (118), a rechargeable power supply module (120), and a wheelchair chassis assembly (122). The short-range communication and network identification module (112) facilitates acquisition of network connection information prior to wireless communication establishment. The embedded controller unit (104) receives directional control commands through the browser-accessible control interface module (114), actuates the wheelchair drive motor assembly (118), and concurrently processes monitoring information from the camera-based monitoring module (106) and detection information from the obstacle detection module (108). The system enables wireless wheelchair control, environmental monitoring, and obstacle- aware navigation through an integrated mobility assistance architecture.
