Abstract: The present invention relates to a web-based system and method for reporting, searching, and resolving lost and found items within a community. The system comprises a browser-based client interface, a server component, and an embedded SQLite database for storing user information, session records, and item reports. The system enables authenticated users to submit structured reports containing item descriptions, categories, locations, dates, and optional photographs. Reported items can be retrieved and filtered by item type, category, and keywords to facilitate identification of potentially matching items. A session-based authentication mechanism and salted password hashing support user access management. The server implements conditional disclosure of the posting user's contact information, providing phone number and email address only to authenticated users. Further, an ownership-based authorisation mechanism enables the posting user to mark an item as resolved following recovery. By integrating item reporting, searchable listings, authentication-controlled contact disclosure, and status management within a single application, the invention provides an organised and privacy-conscious approach to lost-and-found management with reduced dependence on external database infrastructure.
