Abstract: ABSTRACT WEB-BASED AUTOMATED SNAPSHOT BACKUP AND RECOVERY SYSTEM FOR VIRTUAL MACHINES IN CLOUD ENVIRONMENTS The present invention discloses a web-based automated snapshot backup and recovery system (100) for virtual machines in cloud and local computing environments. The system (100) comprises a web interface module (110) for receiving scheduling parameters through a browser-based graphical interface, a backend processing server (120) implemented using Python and Flask for validating and processing backup requests, a scheduling engine module (130) for time-based automated trigger of backup operations, a virtualization interface module (140) for executing snapshot creation and export commands through a hypervisor command-line utility such as VBoxManage, and a backup storage module (150) for storing backup files with timestamp-based versioning. The system (100) eliminates manual intervention in virtual machine backup management, reduces human error, ensures consistent backup scheduling, and provides an integrated web-based platform for backup creation, monitoring, and recovery, particularly suited for academic institutions and small-scale computing environments.
