MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641097392 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 12, 2026, for Wearable Speech Biofeedback System And Method For Real-Time Prosodic Feedback.
Inventors include Charanya; and Mr. Arun Roshan E.
The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.
Abstract: WEARABLE SPEECH BIOFEEDBACK SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME PROSODIC FEEDBACK A wearable speech biofeedback system (100) for providing real-time prosodic feedback to a hearing-impaired user (101) is disclosed. The system (100) comprises a contact sensor (110) configured to generate a first signal representative of vocal-fold vibration, an air microphone (112) configured to generate a second signal representative of airborne speech, a processor (102), a memory (104) storing machine-readable instructions, and a haptic actuator (108). The processor (102) determines whether the second signal corresponds to speech produced by the user (101) based on the first signal, extracts a pitch feature, a loudness feature, and a speaking-rate feature from different sensing channels, retrieves personalized target ranges from the memory (104), compares the extracted speech features with the personalized target ranges, determines one or more prosodic deviations, prioritizes a selected prosodic deviation when multiple prosodic deviations are detected, and actuates the haptic actuator (108) to provide tactile feedback corresponding to the selected prosodic deviation.
