Inventors include Dr. Jaisankar N; Dr. Venkateswaranth H; Arun Prasad P; and Dr. Anandan M.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: Critically ill or premature newborn infants in Paediatric Intensive Care Units require continuous body temperature monitoring. Conventional adhesive electrodes and wired leads cause discomfort, sleep interruption and skin trauma. The present invention provides a wearable sensor device .tbr non-invasive monitoring and active control of body temperature in newborns. The device comprises a bamboo textile substrate (201) coated with an alumina (A1203)—zinc oxide (ZnO) nanocomposite (202), providing thermal conductivity, electrical insulation, and antibacterial properties. A miniaturized PT100 temperature sensor (203) on the substrate generates a signal representative of skin temperature. A compact Peltier film (204) thermally coupled to the substrate provides bidirectional heating and cooling. An intelligent PSoC microcontroller implements closed-loop control (309) by comparing measured temperature with a reference setpoint and driving the Peltier film via a bridge circuit (303). Conductive textile wires enable flexible interconnections, and a wireless module transmits sensing and control parameters to an external PC. or monitors (404). The wearable device offers continuous thermal regulation with minimal discomfort and enhanced electrical safety (503) for neonates.
