The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: Respiratory rate and breathing pattern are vital physiological parameters that provide important information about a person's health status. Abnormal breathing patterns can indicate conditions such as asthma, sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), stress, and other respiratory disorders. This project presents the design and development of a wearable respiratory rate and breathing pattern monitoring device that enables continuous, real-time monitoring in a non-invasive manner. The proposed system uses wearable sensors to detect chest or abdominal movements associated with inhalation and exhalation. The sensed data is processed using a microcontroller to calculate respiratory rate and analyze breathing patterns. The processed information is displayed on a mobile application or monitoring interface, allowing users and healthcare professionals to track respiratory activity remotely. The device is lightweight, portable, low-cost, and suitable for longterm use, making it ideal for home healthcare, fitness monitoring, and clinical applications. By providing continuous respiratory monitoring, the system helps in early detection of abnormalities, improves patient safety, and supports preventive healthcare
