MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621091487 A) filed by Maulana Azad National Institute Of Technology Manit Bhopal on July 28, 2026, for Wearable Fall Detection System With Sensor Fusion And Automated Response.
Inventors include Gyanchandani, Manasi Mahadev; Khare, Nilay; and Jain, Priyank.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: A system (106) for detecting a fall event (108) by a wearable electronic device (104) includes a memory (114) and a processor (112). The processor (112) receives inertial data from a sensing unit (202), including a multi-axis inertial sensor. The processor (112) generates fused motion data using a sensor fusion process, where the fused motion data corresponds to orientation parameters represented as quaternion values and angular parameters. The processor (112) determines feature data by correlating the orientation parameters and motion patterns to construct a multi-dimensional representation. The processor (112) generates an activity classification output (110) from the feature data using a trained classification model, where the activity classification output (110) indicates a fall condition or a non-fall condition. The processor (112) determines a fall event (108) by identifying the fall condition and generates an alert signal based on the fall event in accordance with an emergency response protocol.
