Abstract: A wearable emergency assistance system (102) and a corresponding method (400) for emergency alert escalation. The system (102) includes a control unit (104) having a processor (202) and a memory (204). The control unit (104) detects an emergency trigger based on an actuation of an emergency input unit (106) or based on a trigger signal received from a companion terminal (118), and acquires location coordinates from a GPS unit (108). The control unit (104) transmits, through a communication unit (110), a first emergency message including the location coordinates to an emergency contact device (120). The control unit (104) detects a subsequent actuation of the emergency input unit (106), and transmits a second emergency message to an authority communication device (122), the first and second emergency messages being transmitted independent of an internet connection and including a map-accessible link generated based on the location coordinates, the control unit (104) further activating a feedback unit (116) accordingly.
