Abstract: Wearable Device for Real-Time Monitoring of Pain and Distress in Late-Stage Alzheimer’s Patients This invention describes a wearable device designed to monitor and manage pain and emotional distress in late-stage Alzheimer’s patients. Utilizing a multi-modal sensor array, it continuously tracks physiological biomarkers such as heart rate variability, sweat composition, hydration levels, cortisol concentrations, neural activity patterns, and facial micro-expressions. An AI-driven processing unit analyzes this data against patient-specific baselines, identifying deviations indicative of distress and prioritizing signals based on severity. The device transmits real- time alerts and actionable insights to caregivers via an IoT-enabled communication interface, while also integrating with smart home systems for automated environmental adjustments, such as lighting and sound. A blockchain-based security module encrypts and stores patient health records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations. Powered by thermoelectric and kinetic energy modules, the device operates continuously without frequent recharging, offering a reliable, adaptive, and secure solution to enhance patient care and improve the quality of life.
