MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611117503 A) filed by Chitkara University on September 30, 2026, for Wearable Device And Method For Monitoring And Alerting A Focus Level Of A User.

Inventors include Raninder Singh Aulakh; Himanshu Thapar; Dr. Nidhi Barthwal; Amandeep Kaur; and Dr. Chetna Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A wearable device (100) and method for monitoring and alerting a focus level of a user during a study session are disclosed. The device comprises an eye blink sensor (110) generating a blink-rate signal, a heart rate sensor (120) generating a heart-rate-variability signal, and a motion sensor (130) generating a wrist-movement signal. A control unit (140), having a memory module (142) storing a personalized baseline value and a focus-score computation module (150), evaluates the signals against the baseline using rule-based logic to compute a composite focus score from a synergistic combination of the signals. A first display unit (160) displays a focus status, a second display unit (162) displays a study-duration parameter, and a vibration actuator (170) generates a silent alert when the score falls below a threshold or the duration exceeds a limit. A calibration sub-process establishes the baseline per user, improving accuracy while avoiding image capture.
